CHARLES WASON, A CORNELL ALUMNUS AND CLEVELAND BUSINESSMAN, amassed a remarkable collection of materials on China and the Chinese that was bequeathed to Cornell University to become the nucleus of the world renowned Charles W. Wason Collection on East Asia. By the time of his death on April 15, 1918, the collection numbered over 9000 volumes -- books, periodicals, manuscripts, documents, drawings, maps, and other materials.
