Syntelia Beetle
16 of 16

This beetle belongs to an extremely small family of beetles found in mid- to high-elevation sites in Central America and Asia. The specimen depicted is a newly discovered species from high-elevation sites in Guatemala. The family to which this species belongs has only six members (some beetle families contain tens of thousands of species).

As with the Bess Beetle, this illustration was begun as a traditional drawing, then scanned into a computer, and finished using graphics software.
